Managing Visitor Flows

↓  Open

Description

Tourism destinations often face an uneven distribution of visitor flows, with overcrowding during peak times and underutilization in quieter periods. This imbalance not only reduces guest satisfaction during peak times but also leads to inefficient use of resources and missed economic potential in off-peak periods. There is a lack of innovative approaches to motivate travelers to visit outside peak times and to enhance the appeal of less frequented periods.

Challenge

“How can we develop innovative strategies to manage visitor flows in a tourism destination and make traveling outside peak times more attractive?”

Main Tasks

  • Behavioral Steering: Development of incentives or mechanisms to motivate guests to travel outside peak times (e.g., discounts, exclusive experiences).
  • Enhancing Appeal: Ideas for new offers or experiences specifically designed for less frequented periods to improve utilization.
  • Leveraging Data and Technology: Integration of digital tools or analytics platforms to evaluate visitor data and provide real-time information to better direct guests.
  • Communication and Marketing: Development of targeted communication strategies that emphasize the benefits of traveling outside peak times and attract new audience segments.
  • Sustainability: Ensuring that the developed solutions are sustainable in the long term and economically viable for all stakeholders.
All attendees, sponsors, partners, volunteers and staff at our hackathon are required to agree with the Hack Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to ensure a safe environment for everybody.
