Data-Driven Strategies to Expand Tourism into October and November

↓  Open

Description

Innovating Tourism for the late autumn period for the destinations of Crans-Montana and Anniviers

This challenge invites teams to harness the power of non-personal data from the Crans-Montana and Anniviers regions to create innovative strategies that boost tourism in the autumn season. Participants will analyze diverse datasets, including:

  • Booking patterns for accommodations and activities.
  • Visitor origins and seasonality trends from Swisscom data.
  • Website traffic and search behavior specific to autumn.
  • Transport data revealing travel dynamics and seasonality.
  • Historical and real-time insights provided by our destination partners and the regional tourism observatory Tourobs (www.tourobs.ch).

Your mission: Uncover the untapped opportunities of the late-autumn season and co-create the future of tourism!

Main Tasks

Teams will tackle questions such as:

  • How can we better understand and meet the needs of autumn visitors?
  • What gaps exist in the current tourism offering, and how can they be filled?
  • How can digital tools (e.g., interactive maps or dashboards) enhance decision-making for both tourists and local stakeholders?

The goal is to translate data insights into actionable solutions that could include new products, marketing strategies, or tools designed to extend the tourist season and maximize regional potential.

All attendees, sponsors, partners, volunteers and staff at our hackathon are required to agree with the Hack Code of Conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to ensure a safe environment for everybody.
